Western style Nakiri

Western style Nakiri.

Handle is amboyna burl and bog oak with silver and black fiber spacers.

Blade length is 7 inches with an overall length of 12.5 inches.

Weighs 5 oz.

Handle is approx 1 inch tall and .6 of an inch wide at the neck of the knife.

A Japanese style Nakiri, typically used almost exclusively for cutting vegetables, has a very flat cutting edge and can be awkward for the western knife user. The one I’ve made here has a curved belly and spine to create a more comfortable rocking motion when brought in contact with the cutting board. The spine and choil have been rounded and polished for hand comfort.
